Taking the self assessment helped me to get to know my personality type and based on that personality type it matched me a job. The job it matched me was nursing which was the filled I want to get into. It showed me my strongest part and also it assured me that I am a visual learner. I would not know all this about myself if I did not take the self assessment.
1. What errors did you see in protecting the patient’s privacy? There were several errors done on protecting patient’s privacy. Firstly, when Mildred soaked her bed, nurse shouted loudly asking for the clean bed sheet saying that the patient had soaked herself which is extremely embarrassing to her.
Nurse Practitioner can be defined as a person who has met the qualifications for certified nurse practitioner and has been licensed by the Department. According to the state of Illinois, all Advanced Practice Nurses may only practice according to the national certification and Act. Unlike the other states, Illinois has only one title everyone refers to for Nurse practitioner which is Advanced Practice Nurse (APN). The agency that regulates Nurse Practitioners is the Board of Nursing.
Reflecting on the past seven weeks I have acquired countless knowledge, which I will use to further strengthen my profession as an Advanced Practice Nurse. The course allowed me to think beyond my current practice knowledge and acquired innovative ways to evaluate the situation at hand. The learning objective in program outcome four helps set standards that I will use to guide my clinical practice to meet various healthcare needs. Using the case studies has helped to further enhance my knowledge on disease physiological state, using differential diagnosis, disease manifestations, and clinical presentation. It has also taught me the skills on how to differentiate between similar diagnoses to properly identify the problem and treat the patients.
Throughout the semester, I have gained a better understanding of adapted physical education and sport programs. These programs provide children and adults with an opportunity to participate in sports they may not have thought were possible. The modifications to sport and exercise allows individuals with a range of disabilities to engage in activity. The disabilities can range from a mild learning disability to a permanent condition caused from a serious accident. While observing numerous individuals with disabilities, I was able to obtain a better understanding of the challenges that came with physical activity.
Nursing assessment has a significant role in providing effective, accurate and safe nursing care in clinical practice. Nursing assessment is the first stage of the Nursing Process. It is used to explore the physical, psychological, spiritual and social aspect of the patient’s life. It is therefore a holistic and systematic guide for nurses to obtain a greater understanding of their patient’s wants and needs. It is the underlying foundation of the process, on which other phases of the process are based upon (Foster & Hawkins, 2005).
