As a child of two nurses, I have always been partial to the medical field. I have chosen to pursue physician assistant studies because of the responsibilities the position holds, such as examining and diagnosing patients and giving treatments. The career stability is also an aspect that draws my attention to the profession. The healthcare field, while stable, is always evolving; new technologies, procedures, treatments, and even discoveries of diseases have those working in the field constantly learning and experiencing something for the first time. I require a challenging professional career, and I believe this field will provide that. I have shadowed nurses while debating which career path to follow, but while I found the particular department interesting, I found I was more interested in the more complex role in patient care. I have also shadowed a physician assistant at the VA Pittsburgh hospital where their energy and professionalism inspired me to strive towards the physician assistant studies. Service is an important aspect of my life. I have gone on multiple mission trips, hours away from my home to bring help, companionship, and compassion to those who may not be as fortunate as I am. …show more content…

I am looking for a school to challenge and give me the best possible preparation for my future, and I believe this school will provide that. I have gone to Catholic school for eight years, and I have preferred the smaller class sizes and greater teacher-student attention to what I had experienced in public school. Duquesne draws my attention in for the same reasons; a fourteen-to-one student-faculty and classes around twenty students leads me to believe I will have the resources needed to make the best of my education. Being in the middle of the city near many hospitals where I can complete my clinical rotations will expose me to departments where I can choose to
