In the short story The Bass, the River, and Sheila Mant, by W.D. Wetherell, dramatic irony and flashback are utilized to communicate that one should never change themselves for the sake of another. Set during a summer in New Hampshire, Wetherell’s work is from the perspective of a young boy who becomes infatuated with a girl by the name of Sheila Mant. As as result, the narrator sacrifices the opportunity of a lifetime on his fruitless endeavor to win the heart of the girl. To begin, an excellent example of the effect of the irony and flashback is present at the end of the story when the narrator reflects upon his decisions and says, “ There would be other Sheila Mants in my life, other fish, and though I came close once or twice, it was these
There are con artists in the world, people willing to try to swindle other people for a variety of different reasons. There are people that have almost no conscience and are willing to do anything for a personal gain. In the play “The Music Man” Professor Harold Hill is a con man. He travels the country giving people a taste of what it would be like for their children to be apart of a wonderful band and then having them pay for that band that would never be. Professor Harold Hill is exactly the type of man that would do most anything for a personal gain, not truly caring how many people he hurt.
Give My Regards to Broadway Music brings culture to everyday life, it can be found anywhere at anytime. Music doesn’t have to actually be playing for people to hear it. The rhythm of the city is music in itself, everybody has their own unique sound and way to add into the beat of the city. Music expands in many different ways such as country music, which has it’s own unique sound. Country music can be slow with a love story, fast with a break up story to it, or it could be a moderate speed about a big purple dinosaur.
The last form of irony is the dramatic irony, which is Brother's blindness to Doodle's limitations. This particular irony spans the whole story unlike the others. Doodle, before overcoming the first challenge of walking, claims, "'I can't walk, Brother'"(157). Doodle himself doesn't expect much from himself. He knows that he has a physical disability, and therefore cannot do certain things that others can do.
Urinetown is the fall musical that our school magnificently performed. It centers about this town in which people have to pay to pee and a love story about two young adults trying to change the way of the town. The musical premiered in 2001 with the music by Mark Hollmann, lyrics by Hollmann and Greg Kotis, and book by Kotis. What interested me was that the musical mocks capitalism, social irresponsibility, populism,and the whole idea of going against the corrupt government. Also, the concept of going to the bathroom is not free is unique to me.

After watching the recording version of Shrek the Musical, I consider that it is a successful production if the purpose of this musical is to amuse audiences and bring them an enduring audio-visual feast.
“Beyond Beats and Rhymes” Summary This movie was a broad discussion about hip-hop music (or more specifically gangster rap) and what kind of social issues the music not only showcases but seems to promote. The producer of this film, Byron Hunt, interviewed people involved in all aspects of the hip-hop industry, including famous rappers, to try to get to the bottom of this. Some of the most prominent issues discussed in the film were the over-sexualization of women, gun violence, and anti- homophobic attitudes. Hunt would ask those involved in the industry about why they think these themes are so prevalent.

The author uses his diction to give this poem Its tone as if he regrets what he did in life. He also shows great tone changes in this work, giving this poem a dramatic, almost tragic outlook. Many of his word choices also give his work an underlying meaning and adds to his theme and messages. A large part of his poem is also using metaphors to add to this underlying meaning and give more force to this tone he is trying to create.

We stick together, we can see it through cause you've got a friend in me.” Justification: This song relates to the relationship George and Lennie had because even though Lennie was always getting in trouble, George was beside him no matter what. Also, when they got to the ranch, Slim said to them that is not common to see such good friends like George and Lennie, who travel together and look out for each other.

After viewing the documentary and listening to each song by Rodgers and Hammerstein the song that made the most impact on me was the song “Some Enchanted Evening.” The song consists of very smooth and romantic melodies. Due to that I am a hopeless romantic I really enjoy the song lyrics and melody. The song was very catchy that I ended up singing the song for the rest of my day.
