The men’s lacrosse team participated in the annual IronPigs Suites-N-Treats event on Thursday, October 26 to represent the Cops ‘N’ Kids organization. This event provides an opportunity for children from throughout the Lehigh Valley who are of special needs or underprivileged to have a unique Halloween experience. Floor Hockey Keyanna Johnson Floor hockey is a game played indoors which played with a stick and puck. Ice hockey was invented by British soldiers which soon evolved into floor hockey. The equipment for floor hockey is a plastic puck and each player should have a hockey stick, there are two goals on either side of the court and the players should be wearing indoor athletic shoes. Floor hockey is usually played between two teams of six players.
I want this so badly not only for me, but for my family. With great confidence and persistence, I tried out for the team and made it! After the long journey of watching the games as a kid, to playing hockey all my life, to practicing with the team, to finally making it; the dream had finally been accomplished. To start playing, all you will need is an air hockey table, a small plastic disk also known as a puck and a couple of mallets. As with other games, two players may flip a coin to determine who gets to hit the puck first. Aside from tossing a coin, players may devise their way of determining who goes first. Once the issue is settled, the first player should be given the puck. As soon as the game starts, the first player has only 7 seconds to hit the puck across the table with the air hockey mallet.

During my short life, I have not had many life altering experiences; however, one thing that has changed me for the better is playing hockey. Since I started playing hockey in eighth grade it has been something I have become passionate about for various reasons. One reason is my love for the game in general, and more specifically for playing goalie, the one position that holds the balance of the scoreboard. The second reason is being a part of a team. This is important to me because it gives a strong sense of purpose to the player.

Informed consent is crucial to any dangerous or adventurous activity. The word informed implies that a person has been given all the information and the person feels comfortable making a decision based on the facts presented. Robeson and King believe that the “inquiry into the growing controversy over concussions and football clearly shows that many decisions have been made in the absence of critically important information” (334). If concussions are a natural consequence of football, then the National Football League would have been willing to better inform their athletes by “[revealing] data from its own sponsored research” after they settled disputes in 2013 with about 4,500 disgruntled players and families; a settlement that cost the league about $765 million” (Robeson and King 335).
Hockey has made me more responsible because on tournament weekends my team always has team breakfasts, lunches, and sometimes dinners. If I know that I have a team breakfast in the morning I make myself wake up in the morning with enough time to take a shower, and get ready to leave for the game right after we eat. Also it’s made me more responsible and on top of my school work. Now at school I always right down my test dates so I never forget when I have a test.
Dedication is the secret to success for many athletes. I started playing mini-mite travel hockey when I was five years old. At that level they focused on teaching us basics of skating and hockey skills. After playing travel hockey for a couple years, I quit hockey all together for coaching difficulties.
