The wealth of the rich is built on the sweat, blood and tears of the working class. When
Rome got rid of their Ruler and established a more republic way of ruling, the wealthy took up higher places of power as they controlled more of the collected riches of the country. However, the rule of creating a more fair and balance society, quickly dissolved into keeping the classes in their place and not allowing mixing between the two. The patricians and the plebeians were therefore kept from each other by law and other means to keep the plebeians from gaining any footing by giving them debt to pay off at risk of being placed in debtors prison.
The plebeians were not happy to sit by and allow such things to be forced on them.

These changes helped to bring up a new aristocracy, bringing the wealthy plebeian families to more power where those who had entered into the Senate, as their seats tend to be almost hereditary.
