9-11 influence me by all of those good Americans who died from the attack. And it also influenced me because I never got to see the world trade center in real life before it was destroyed. And the world trade center is something that I really wanted to see because of how unique it was. The world trade center is now a part of our history and will be in everybody’s hearts forever.
Many people were still disputing the fact that someone can burn a protected object and can burn the American flag. This decision was very controversial and was a bad decision in my opinion. There were many more flag burnings after they passed this act making it hard to rule all of them and I think that something like the american flag shouldn’t be able to be set on fire and desecrated. I think if something like the confederate flag is being banned in some places, the american flag shouldn’t be able to be desecrated. If the Supreme Court would have just voted against Gregory Lee Johnson, this whole situation with burning the American flag wouldn’t be
The Civil Rights movement was turning into a success when three civil rights workers were murdered. James Chaney, Andrew Goodman, and Michael Schwerner were standing up for their civil rights, which led them to death. This historical crisis was very misfortunate for the workers and their families. However, it had helped propel the civil rights movement. There are still mysteries about the murders today.
The events of 9/11 were a highly significant tragedy that had profound global implications. The attacks on the Twin Towers resulted in an immense loss of life, with 2,977 deaths, numerous casualties, and extensive destruction. Beyond the immediate human toll, the attacks triggered far-reaching changes in society and government. They prompted violent military responses and led to the establishment of Homeland Security in the US, accompanied by counter-terrorism campaigns and the enactment of the USA Patriot Act under President George Bush. Moreover, the attacks harmed Islamic views, increasing stereotypes and biases.
History states, “The blasts instantly turned the sun-filled afternoon into a gruesome scene of destruction and chaos. Three spectators died: a 23-year-old woman, a 29-year-old woman and an 8-year-old boy, while more than 260 other people were wounded. Sixteen people lost legs; the youngest amputee was a 7-year-old girl”(History). All things considered, these muslims were angry over the 9/11 attacks and wanted to get back at America and this attack showcased these men hating America with the explosions and harming people. 26,000 people participated in the race and nobody expected the race to turn deadly, and this attack showed that on the sunniest days, violence can happen.
Sadly, many people died because of this hysteria. Five people were hung the following July, five in August, and eight others in September. This doesn’t include people who were convicted as well as seven others who were sent to die in a jail
The September 11 attack on the Twin Towers ; 9/11 was one of the most devastating incidents that ever happened in modern history. This attack killed 2,996 people and injured almost 6000 others. The US Government announced that this attack was organised by an Islamic terrorist group called Al-Qaeda headed by Osama Bin Laden. But is that completely true? Some people believe that the Twin Towers collapsed over various reasons like George Bush, the former owner of an oil company called Arbusto Energy was connected to Bin Laden as he was an investor in the oil company and that George Bush knew this attack will take place all along.
/11 changed the way of American life. Many lives were lost due to the awful attack, but unfortunately many Arab and Muslim Americans had to pay for the cost. Post 9/11 is a continuous struggle for many Muslim Americans. Due to 9/11 many Muslims face discrimination, racial prejudice, and hate crimes. All throughout our history, hate crimes were targeted towards minority groups, such as: African Americans, Latinos, Italians, Irish, Germans, and Asians; today, hate crimes are targeted towards Muslims.
The causes and effects of 9/11 on America and its people On september 11th 2001, I was in preschool when the first and second plane hit. My dad was at work, and my mom was on the way to drop off my sister at her school. Now the question is, where were you? The hijackings
In conclusion, 9/11 had extreme and extensive effects on schools and school communities. Even though most of the aftermath was negative and painful, American society came together to support one another out of it as well. On the other side, the life before that day was particularly regular for most of society. There are numerous parallels between the time then and the time now, such as the example of the dress-code issue, and this observation is humbling yet eerie, for any moment a disaster could strike
The reactions were not the greatest and that is why it went to court but ended up not being anything major. The people and the ideas in
The Patriot Act In post nine eleven America there was and still is a hysteria regarding terrorism. People were scared for their lives every time they went outside Bureaucrats and politicians were in a state of “fear” for themselves and their families. Politicians saw this as a time to do what they wanted in congress with terrorism as a cover story. This fear enacted many new bills and laws, but none were as controversial as the Patriot Act. From an observational standpoint this act was seen as any other to Americans in fear of terrorist acts.
Although the images of the event were still fresh in my mind I had no understanding of it. I often wondered as a kid why an airplane would crash into a building in broad day. These and many more questions went unanswered for year until the 6th anniversary of the attacks. My 7th grade social studies teacher Mr. Drummond gave answers to the questions I had about the 9/11 attacks.
As such my strong desire to protect, what I feel is a sacred symbol of this country clouded my views to any differing points of view! As various organizations, fellow lawmakers, students, and political activists wooed me I was bombarded with mostly personal beliefs
It sparked racism among Muslims. Muslims and middle-eastern were labeled as “terrorists”. Muslims and middle-easterners sparked fear and uncertainty among US citizens. A use of the term “islamophobia” spread out across the United States. This is a big problem in the US especially in New York.
