A Dads Sorrows
According to desiringgod.org, “a son is not a father’s only life-investment, but there is none like it, and when it fails, there is no sorrow like this sorrow.” (Introduction)=> In “Between Father and Daughter” by Reginald Gibbons, he explains parent’s day for a little girl. Previously in my relationship with my dad he would always lie to me, never listen to what I would say, and would always be stressed out which would make me feel unsafe, so therefore, I didn’t trust him. “For instance, one night a couple comes out to my dad’s house. At the end of the day my cousin came to see me and spend time with me before I went back home. Again the next night Brittney and her boyfriend came back by and sure enough my dad let them in again. “My cousin and I looked through a crack in the bedroom wall to the living room and found out that my dad was doing drugs with them.” “I also remembered that the girl’s boyfriend stole from my dad and broke a lot of my dad’s property.” “His name was Robert, I found out that he went to jail for stealing my dad’s car and my dad bailed him out.” “Couple days have passed and now I have 3 more day to be with my dad.” That night my uncle Scott came by angry. He and my Aunt had a talk with my dad about what he is doing with his life and how much grief he is causing. I got to say good bye to my dad because my uncle decided to take me home the next day. When I got home I said goodbye and took all of my luggage into my mom’s house. About 3 days being home with my mom I decided to call my dad and actually ask him if he was doing drugs. I went outside and sat by myself and called him. “Dad I have to ask you a serious and personal question. He is like ok what is it? Do you do drugs? He replies, “Who told you that?” I said “it doesn’t matter do you! YES or NO!?” Yes. He replied. I’m like ok what kind and why what do they do to you. He didn’t answer. “Alright I want you to promise me right now to stop doing drugs.” I said. “I can’t promise that” he replied. “Why not?” I said. “Just cause” he said. I then told him” alright then Fine I’ll give you two choices 1: you can keep doing drugs and die young and not ever see me
