Police crime control strategies has evolved tremendously over the past decades. Many scholarly people have developed tons of police strategies involving with science, psychological, and sociological experiments. Yet it is crucial to understand that many experiments did make a difference towards the drop in crime rates such as geographical targeting, offense targeting, offender targeting, evidence based, and compstat. On the other hand, some developed strategies that were thought to be well developed had actually turned upside down towards creating more crime issues within the community. Because Crime has been a major problem in a community, police departments wants the best by performing whatever they can to reduce crime and terror. Therefore, in order to deter crime, collecting data of crimes by analyzing who, what, where, when, and why are crucial to understand why crimes began in the first place. One of the effective reasons to why racial profiling holds a stand is because it appears to be an effective way to prevent terrorist attacks. This reason may seem a bit harsh on some people because of 9/11. Since the 9/11 attack, multiple agencies has been working hard to deter future tragic attacks by using crime data to find who are the potential threat in the future. By having that set mind, same amount of past crimes was in relation to same race and ethnicity that may have lead police officers to reasonably believe certain race will cause crime. In addition, racial profiling is a tool to reduce crime as a whole.
