Community-oriented policing is a new transformative approach and strategy used by law enforcement that aims to close the gap between the police and the community. Community policing is a philosophy that promotes organizational strategies that encourage trust and respect between police and the community. Community policing can also be defined as a specific style of policing in which the officers are personally close to the community, know their concerns from regular contacts and interactions, and act on them in accordance with the public’s wishes (Glaser & Denhardt, 2010).
