In the court case Citizen United vs. United States of America the Supreme Court ruled that PACs and corporations could spend as much they wanted to as long as it was done independently of the party (doc. A). This ruling has allowed interest groups and PACs to spend as much money as they want on political campaigning commercials. A political party is two different organizations made up of people with different ideas for how the country should be run. They argue over “who is right”. People join political parties who have similar beliefs ( Doc 1). Jefferson and Hamilton created the first two political parties. Jefferson, the Democratic Republicans, and Hamilton, the Federalists, had very different ideas for the new nation.
There are a vast amount of negative effects that are caused by the political machine in both history and today's modern society. One problem that is present throught both history and now is corruption. As shown with Boss Tweed in the 1800s and most politcs today, politicians can use the political machine for their own financial wants and needs. As an example, Boss Tweed used the political machine to create fake leases and vouchers to increase his wealth, which, as a result, financially drained New York City. Another problem is that political machines will often be negative for canidates not involved in the machines.
As the foundations of a successful government system, political parties help keep balance of power and uphold the Democratic ideals of the United States. These parties have origins that can trace back to the early sectional tensions in America. These sectional tensions were the primary reasons for the development and progression of political parties in the United States. As early as 1800, signs of deviation would appear.
The media is a major source of information for voters. Voters depend on the media to make their decision on who to support and vote for. As much trouble as the media causes, they play a major role in our political system. The American President accurately depicts the political process.
Is there a way to predict the country’s achievement in the next few years by looking at how political parties have succeeded in the past? My studies use data from 1948 to show the association between the political party in power and their effects on improving the country’s economy. I decided that, a good, practical way of measuring a country’s economy improvement is by observing how employment rate and inflation is affected over time. In this study, I took a closer look at how these two factors are affected by the most important political representatives. In today 's world, political parties and interest groups play a prominent role in the democratic system. Democracy can be defined for the people, of the people and by the people so it comes as no surprise that political parties and interest group would play a supporting role in this decision. Although political party and interest groups are different they both play similar role in our federation such as sharing the same goal, influencing people and linking us closer to the political party and those in office. Each group consist of an organized group of people working towards a specific goal. Even though there are similarities, each serves a different purpose.
The original framers of the Constitution did not anticipate the eventual establishment of a party system in Congress. Therefore, nothing was written into the Constitution as to the requirements for political parties. In fact, George Washington was strongly against political parties and warned of their danger (U.S. History, 2017). Initially, parties did not exist in America after the Constitution was written. Political parties began to emerge before the first election in order to encourage public discourse about certain issues and to gain support for their party’s political causes.
When thinking of the media you think they are reporting the appropriate and accurate information not based on any personal opinions and feelings. Also one would not think the media would be reporting based on one side of politics or the other. The media is extremely biased when it comes to politics and news. While some of the media is conservative-biased I believe the mass media is liberal-biased. Majority of media outlets are liberal companies, media personnel and journalists will identify themselves as democrats and liberals more so than republicans or conservatives and lastly the left side (liberals) of the mass media is persuasive on what information to report.
My opinion on this situation is that media is overpowered and if it was an official branch congress would have to even out the powers in order for it to work in a reasonable and controlled way. However it becoming an official branch is highly unlikely and will most likely never occur. I do feel that propaganda is taking over the aspect of being free and interrupting your political mindset on issues.
