Pony-boy Curtis- Darry Darry is Ponyboy's older brother although they have always fought and argued a lot since the death of their parents, Darry is only trying to protect Pony and prepare him for future life, however sometimes Darry is too strict and this can cause Pony to believe Darry cares only for Soda and not for him. Pony-boy Curtis-Two bit Two bit is a member of the gang Pony is in, they are close friends and they get along together good, as well as spending a fair amount of together. The greasers are the poorer than the rich and the middle-class yet they are wilder. They are viewed by the rich and middle-class as unworthy troublemakers however they are often genuinely kind, caring people who have just been given a bad rep by the socs.Unlike the socs, who only care about being cool, popular and emotionless, the greasers look out for and protect one another.The socs are the rich kids that live on the west side, they think they are so much better than the greasers and spend their lives driving around in expensive cars, getting drunk and seeking fights with the greasers for no apparent reason. The socs mentioned in this book were: Cherry, Bob, Marcia and Randy 3. How do Ponyboy's relationships with Darry and Sodapop differ? Explain. Darry tries to be more like a father figure to Pony rather than a older brother. He is strict with Pony, constantly yelling and arguing with him yet he believes it's for Ponys own good. He wants Pony to be able to go to university one day as he never had the opportunity to, but to do that Pony needs to try harder and learn to think more often, since although Pony gets good grades he often doesn't think properly when it comes to logic. Darry thinks that the best way to teach Pony how to improve, is by putting pressure on him and becoming strict and firm however this only makes Pony less motivated. Ponyboy and Soda have a much less intense and more relaxed relationship due to Sodas easy going nature and ability to listen continuously to Pony and give him advice or help him out.
