Would you let Ponyboy Curtis from The Outsiders go to foster care? If you read the book you would know he has a pleasant home with brothers who love him. Ponyboy should be able to live with his loving brothers. He is happy with his friends, family, and home.

Many good things could happen to Pony in foster care, and he could be adopted. The chances are not good because many people want younger children and nicer looking children. Though he could end up in a good home, the stress of leaving his family would be overwhelming. The stress could cause many things in Ponyboy such as suicidal thoughts or actions. Foster care could not give Pony a regular life that he is living with his family. The chances of him getting a good home are small. …show more content…

He has fondness for his brothers who always look after their younger sibling. He is very pleased with his friends, and his living conditions. His brothers always support Pony and keep him out of trouble. His friends love him and try to get him from getting hurt or in trouble. Plus, Ponyboy being happy in his environment then making him leave could cause Ponyboy to go into a depression. This could lead to many more issues with him. He could start to hate school or even start to hate life.

Though many people disagree, foster care is not always the best option. Many kids are taken from homes and put in even worse homes with abusive, drunks, or even drug addicts. Research shows less than half of foster kids get jobs, and one in five will become homeless after the age of thirteen. Plus, children can have more than a hundred homes every year! This can cause serious damage to a young child's mind and moods. Ponyboy should not go to foster care. He could possibly end up in a home like Johnny lived in. Foster care in not right for Ponyboy.

Ponyboy is better off living with his brothers because they are good care takers. They take good care of him and make sure he is passing in school. His brothers try hard to keep him safe and out of trouble. Foster care is not a great option for
