RELEVANCE IN EDUCATIONAL SETTINGS As according to the input from studies, educational settings are the best places where it should be implemented to study wellbeing. It is also high time for schools to divert from academic performance alone, to wellbeing of students too. Therefore this model finds its relevance in schools in promoting wellbeing in students (Peterson,2006). Subjective well being serves as an indicator of the effectiveness of a system. At a national level, it reflects the comfort and productivity of a nation ( Hoorn, 2007). At the level of an educational institution it points out to the effectivenss and success of the educational goals itself. Favorable factors to resilience is grouped in many studies as individual psychological factors, supportive family relationships, and external supportive systems (Garmezy, 1985; Masten, Morrison, Pellegrini, & Tellegen, 1990; Myers & Taylor, 1998; Rutter, 1987). The elements of the PERMA model and its relationship with resilience is not adequately brought out in many studies. Therefore relying on the facets of positive psychology, and the model of happiness, this study becomes significant in understanding resilience, on the basis of the PERMA model. Till date, studies that have been done empirically, using PERMA model in adolescents is very less ( Kerna, Waters , Adlera & White, 2014). As the existing data is less in the area of adolescents, the study can be used to build up from the existing data to contribute to empirical studies in adolescents using the PERMA model. The PERMA model used in the area of academic resilience is lacking, taking it again from the perspective of adolescents in educational setting. It is very essential to execute this study to explain how PERMA model is instrumental in overcoming the psychological difficulties that lead to academic difficulties, how this model can be helpful in creating academic resilience , and help students to maintain a good academic performance surpassing the difficulties that the student faces.
