Introduction The bean beetle also known as the Callosobruchus maculatus, is an agricultural pest insect from Africa and Asia. That can be found throughout the tropical and subtropical regions. The lifecycle of a bean beetles is quite short an adult been beetle lays their eggs on the external surface of a bean. The larva hatches from the egg burrows from the egg through the seed coat and into the bean endosperm without moving outside the protection of the egg.
This experiment is called jumping Pop Rocks. You first fill a glass with water that is 140 degrees fahrenheit. Then you pour the Pop Rocks into the glass. Since the Pop Rocks are infused with carbon dioxide they will tend to jump at the bottom of the glass, or maybe even reach the top of the glass once they dissolve.
In conclusion, air pressure has a direct influence on the distance that the ball will travel when thrown. The hypothesis stated that if pressure is added to the football, then the distance the ball projects will increase when distance is a function of pressure. Based on the data that was collected from the experiment, the hypothesis was supported. When the football had more air inside, it went the farthest distance compared to the other two pressures that data was collected from.
In this project, David and Goliath, assigned by Mr. Kumz, a catapult was built, Springy.. In this experiment three different variables were tested; angle of launch, stretch length, and the skittle position. The angle of the launch had three measurements: zero and forty-five degrees. The stretch length measurement were 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 centimeters, while the skittle position was flat and on its side. Springy’s most effective launch was at a zero degree and with a stretch length of five centimeters.
My project is about how temperature and air pressure affect the distance a football can be thrown. When the air is warmer the molecules move faster and spread apart, therefore making the air pressure lower and making the ball lighter. But when the air is cooler the molecules move slower and move closer together, making the air pressure higher making the ball
Dropping Mentos soda causes a physical reaction, as they fall through the soda, the Mentos split up the carbon dioxide and water, releasing the carbon dioxide gas out of the bottle. After closing the lid after adding Mentos to a bottle of diet soda, you trap that gas, creating atmospheric pressure. When the bottle slams hard against the ground, the cap flies off and the gasses release, shooting the bottle into the air. The mentos should mix with the coke and settle in with each other and then they will start to reject each other building up tension after the cap gets hit with a certain amount of pressure it flies because of the gas like a mix between a hot air balloon and a catapult.
Hello, I am Allison Murray, and am very interested in your internship program. I will be graduating in May form Collin College with my Associates of Arts in Communications focusing on public relation and advertising. An internship with Pierpoint Communications would allow me to exercise ideas and knowledge learned in the classroom as well as gain first-hand experience. Pierpoint Communications is a very appealing company with a wide range of clients. Clients ranging from school district to large oil companies and banks demonstrate the abilities and versatility of the company.
The golf ball would fly down a race track and then set off another mousetrap. Next, the mousetrap would pull a string out of a book which would close the book on top of scissors. Finally, the scissors would cut a string which is holding up a dumbbell and the dumbbell would crack the egg which is sitting in a bowl. This is the project we decided to design in order to crack our egg.
In this egg drop project, a container was built to house one egg and was then dropped at various heights. The purpose of this lab was to find how impact time affected the force with which an object, the egg container, hits another surface as the momentum moves to zero. Our hypothesis states that if the impact time is stretched longer then the force exerted on the egg would decrease, making the egg less likely to break. The independent variables for the egg drop project was the height at each drop; the dependent variables were impact time and survival of the egg. The controls were mass, design of the container, and the egg.
Mika Nijhawan 9/29- 10/10 2 MENTOS AND SODA LAB REPORT State the Problem Does the type of soda affect the size of the explosion, after mentos are added? Develop a Hypothesis If seven mentos to a 2L bottle of Diet Pepsi, then it will create the biggest geyser out of Coke, Fanta, & Root Beer because Diet Pepsi has potassium benzoate, aspartame, and the carbonation which react to mentos. Design an Experiment Materials List: 1 clear test tube 35 original flavored Mentos candies (2 1/2 rolls) 1 3x5 index card 4 2L bottles of soda (all different flavors/types) 1 2L bottle of soda water 1 100 mL graduated cylinder 1 400 mL beaker 1 pair of tweezers (preferably large) 1 small container Procedure: Stack seven mentos in the test tube When given permission take the test tube, soda bottles, index cards, and the remaining 25 mentos, to the designated area Place one of the four soda bottles on a flat area Open the soda bottle and place the 3x5 index card over it With the index card over the soda bottle, flip the test tube over and place it on the index card, so the test tube is lined with
The purpose of this lab was to change pennies from copper to silver to gold, like alchemists have attempted to do in history. Through the data and observations gathered throughout this experiment, it can be concluded that the pennies were not changed into a different element. For example, the density of the penny from 2005; which was the penny that was experimented on to see whether or not it could turn into silver; was 4.62 g/cm3 before the experiment and 4.89 g/cm3 by the end of the experiment. If this copper penny really would have turned into silver, then the density of the penny would be 10.49 g/cm3; which is the density of silver; by the end of the experiment. The penny may have turned silver in color, but this was only because it was plated in the zinc that was added to the beaker of water in the experiment.
CHAPTER: (1) Introduction 1.1 Problem Summary and Introduction: The goal for our group is to design a ping pong ball launcher. The launcher needs to be scheduled to launch one solo ping pong ball one at a time over a set obstacle and into a bucket of a chosen diameter. The determination is for the launcher to have the capability to launch five ping pong balls one at a time into the container within one minute, having none of the ping pong balls bounce out or miss the bucket. The launcher can be made out of any matter preferred and can launch the ping pong ball in any anticipated way, except by explosion.
In the 2015 AIAA Design-Build-Fly competition, I designed and tested ball-dropping mechanisms with a team of undergraduates to design and construct an aircraft which placed third internationally. I’ve also
The bottle rocket, a typical high school physics project that presents a direct exposure and perception of the material being learned in class. There are many different ways this homemade rocket can be crafted; it can be tall, short, thin, wide, with numerous wings or only 3, the options are endless. However, there are some mandatory parts in creating a successful and aerodynamic projectile. There must be wings, a nosecone, a completely sealed bottle, and a parachute. After crafting and obtaining these pieces, the rest of the rocket production is left to one’s own creative style.
The invention of the rubber band by Englishman Stephen Perry in 1845 probably spawned an inquisitive smirk from a few ornery school-age kids. Logical that the first kid who shot one off his thumb across the classroom quickly realized how potentially fun this experience could be. While there is no record of the actual first gun, specialized to shoot these projectiles, the ideas on how to them airborne certainly sprang with the elasticity of a heavy gauge rubber band. Today there are assortments of rubber band guns, along with a few games to entertain both the eager child, plus the adult looking for an outlet to express his or her inner child. Rubber Band Guns
