With each individual article, novel, and poem there is something that ties each of them together. In most of these stories, but not all there are these reoccurring patterns. The patterns noticed for each text has something to do with power. Whether if it’s characters craving power, characters getting dominance in the most barbaric of ways, characters receiving too much power, or characters using their power for gruesome activities, control is the what every work studied revolves around.

Romney doesn’t get his power in an inhumane way, but he uses his power for the wrong things. As he gets popular and becomes known by many, he becomes ignorant. Just like Eichmann, Romney was brutal to people of diversity whether they people were from the Jewish or homosexual community.
In the novel, Nothing, after a student has given something meaningful up, they feel as if they are not whole without their object. It then becomes their turn to choose the next person and what they give up. When the student without their beloved item is given that much power they use the power to fill the emptiness they have without their meaning. This causes the student to suggest the impossible and overreact when they have to choose next. This is like how when Romney gets power, he starts to act different and uses his power negatively, just like the students when receiving power.
Once Nicole Edington expresses how she was affected after being bullied, it gave whoever was bullying her power. Which is all they wanted. They wanted power so that they could control whoever was around her, her friends, and her family. Each time she commented something to stop the bullying, it gave the cyber bully more power. Which resulted in the bully being able to say more hurtful statements. The cyber bully has left Nicole vulnerable just like the Students from Nothing are left
