Power can be the ability to both demand or request that people do something, and to say how a task should be done or organised. People yearn for qualities that make them feel powerful over the rest of society, aching to be smarter, faster, and stronger than their peers. While trying to be the best, the value of humility is overlooked or forgotten, because it is in our nature to be prideful and in control. What is power? Power is control, and the inclination to act, in either a good or bad manner. First, power is having control over your actions. “Control” means, “the power to influence”. While independence is “power over”, this is “power with”. It is a democratic form of leadership that is known as mutual power. Mutual power is equal power in a group setting. Instead of trying to magnify their own individual power and ignore the other party, mutual power shows respect to each other’s ideas and position to work together for common objectives. This is very similar to the relationship between my parents. While they both have very different ideas of parenting they both contribute their different values into parenting me and my brother. In my opinion it maybe one of the most simplest types of power, but hardest to work with.
