In the speech that the Whitmore gives, he is saying how everyone should come together and put aside their differences or else we all die. He wants the people to fight not just for them but for the world. The president is asking people to unite as one to create the chance of survival. He uses pathos, logos, and ethos in his speech to get people’s attention and to motivate them. When Whitmore says “mankind- that word should have a new meaning for all of us today.” He is using pathos to get the shock that they aren’t alone anymore through people’s mind. And that they need to realize that there might not be a mankind after today if we don’t come together as one species to fight. At the end of his speech he says “We will not go quietly into the night! We will not vanish without a fight! We’re going to live on!
