Its like an sign of hope, but instead inside they meet an old women who wants to get rid of them. She tell them all kinds of torture that she wants to do to them, and tries to trick them into the oven.
The conflict of English learners being in mainstream or private classes has been raging for decades. Inside Out and Back Again by Thanhha Lai is a work of historical fiction. First Ha, her three brothers, and her mother were forced to leave their home country of Vietnam due to the war. They have to face this hardship without the support of their father, who was captured by the Communists and disappeared many years before. Then they travel on a boat in terrible conditions to a refugee camp in Guam.
Various minority groups have long histories of oppression, including Native Americans, and the brutality that they endured in the past has shaped their race today. In an attempt to advocate for better conditions, Native Americans are spreading awareness for a greater future. Linda Hogan is a writer of Chickasaw Native descent and often incorporates “Southeastern tribal histories and [native] spirits and culture” (Wikipedia contributors) in her work. “Tear” takes on the perspective of a Chickasaw Native, first in the past recounting hardships, then to the present to reflect on the speaker’s connection to others in her tribe. The poem also describes the environment that surrounds natives and the neglection of their lives.
The book Long Walk To Water by Linda Sue Park where a young boy named Salva walks across South Sudan during a civil war and eventually he gets to the United States and helps South Sudan by planting wells across the country. The poem “Lost boys of Sudan” is by Leslie Lane. Many young boys survive walking for hundreds of miles through disease, war and starvation to live, but their lives will never be the same again. The theme of both texts is in the face of obstacles, maintain perseverance in order to overcome them. Though both texts present the common theme in similar ways, there are also differences in their approach and development.
Sweat is a 2017 playwright piece by Lynn Nottage (produced by Dramatists Play Service, Inc). The show covers an array of themes including industrialization, race, economics, and addiction. It follows a group of nine characters, all living within the same Pennsylvania community. The characters also all work for the same factory, “Olstead’s.” The shows swap back between 2 different years: 2000 and 2008.

Themes of Airplanes/Skylines and Madness (sometimes within family) are the two most important themes represented by the main characters (Katie and Stephen) and Katie’s parents. Katie’s father is deteriorating mentally and seemingly cannot speak in the slightest. Also, Katie’s charming, dangerous friend, Stephen, is also rumored throughout the town to be crazy.
Along for the Ride, by Sarah Dessen is a captivating young adult, fiction book. It is about an eighteen year old girl who goes to live with her father and his new wife and child for the summer. When there, Auden realizes all the experiences she had missed out on. She meets many new friends and learns how to make up for lost time. Over the course of the summer Auden learns about love and heartbreak for the first time and she also learns to take chances, which in turn result in many new experiences and adventures.

One of Nikki Giovanni's more notable works is the poem "Ego Tripping," published in 1973. The poem is about a woman who uses pompous language to display her ego while expressing her sense of worth and self-assurance. In addition, readers are presented with various significant historical events and settings to develop an understanding of the main character. Moreover, Giovanni uses literary devices and distinctive word choices to aid readers in comprehending the theme of her poem.
The main reason that people take risks is because it activates the dopamine receptors in your brain. Dopamine gives you a thrilling feeling and pleasure. Also, it can be a reward for taking a risk. Red Glass by Laura Resau is about Sophie's journey bringing a boy home and discovering love and herself in one. I chose Sophie and Nola to feature for risk taking.

On September 11, 2001, tragedy struck the city of New York. On that fateful day, two airplanes were hijacked by terrorists and flew straight into the twin towers. Each tower fell completely to the ground, taking thousands of lives with it and injuring thousands more. Not only did that day leave thousands of families without their loved ones, it also left an entire city and an entire country to deal with the aftermath of the destruction. Poet, Nancy Mercado, worries that one day people will forget that heartbreaking day.

Eurydice, by Sarah Ruhl, was first performed in 2003, and retells the myth of Orpheus from the perspective of his wife, Eurydice. The play has a limited cast of only seven characters, although is focused on the characters of Eurydice, Orpheus, and Eurydice’s father. The setting is a single set resembling both the land of the living and the underworld. Unlike most plays Eurydice is split into three movements, which is comparable to the structure of music.
