The main reason that people take risks is because it activates the dopamine receptors in your brain. Dopamine gives you a thrilling feeling and pleasure. Also, it can be a reward for taking a risk. Red Glass by Laura Resau is about Sophie's journey bringing a boy home and discovering love and herself in one. I chose Sophie and Nola to feature for risk taking. Nola is a 110 year old mixteco woman that lives in Mexico, she is a great-great grandmother. Sofie lives in Tucson, Arizona, is 16 years old and has many phobias. Both Nola and Sophie took risks related to love. First, in Chapter 12, Nola took a risk relating to love. The risk she took was rejecting her giant boyfriend (the only one she loved ever).
