On Thanksgiving Day in 2010 an innocent woman and her two children were stabbed to death in Franklin County. The friends and relatives of the woman and children were absolutely horrified. Their deaths were a terrible tragedy; however, the friends and relatives found comfort in knowing that the killer would be sentenced to death following the crime. Now for the family, they can find relief in the knowledge that there is one less killer on the streets. The death penalty must take place as a justified consequence for the crimes of sexual assault or murder.
When a person commits an act as ghastly as murder or sexual assault there needs to be a punishment that suits the crime. A person who kills other people should not deserve to live themselves. …show more content…

The leader of our country Donald J. Trump, 45th President of the United States declares, “The death penalty. It should be brought back and it should be brought back strong… They say it’s not a deterrent. Well, you know what, maybe it’s not a deterrent but these two [men convicted of killing two police officers in Hattiesburg, MS] will not do anymore killing. That’s for sure.” If we as a country acted swiftly with the death penalty it might become a deterrent. If it even kept one person from committing these horrific acts then it would be justified. A life sentence does not. There are many cases of people killed by murderers who were paroled, escaped, killed within the dignity of every person, a dignity we affirm by punishing offenders for the consequences of their freely chosen and autonomous actions.” The death penalty is the only way to ensure that a person will never murder again.
