Have you ever called customer service relating to a product or service of a major American company and noticed the assistant accent does not sound American at all? This is common due to American companies offshoring their customer service centers to other countries. Have you wondered why the price of a product has dropped significantly? Moreover, when was the last time you seen a “Made in America” product label? Every day, companies are looking for ways to reduce their cost and efficiency to increase mass sales profit. However, such implementation leads to a divisive economic issue, that is, outsourcing. It’s a problem, American products are becoming scarce and difficult to buy. Although most people prefer to buy offshore products due to their price tag, if we can all collaborate and buy American made products we can stop this trend. With no sales of a company deficit outsources, they will be forced to close product production. Another way is, as Scott points out, “With a strategy to encourage manufacturing in the U.S., we can succeed: If we reduce the incentives to outsource by changing tax and trade policies, we will keep more jobs in America” (Levy/Paul).
Outsourcing lets outside countries grow their economy. US Companies are providing a substantial standard living to foreigners. Generating employment for outsiders but disregarding American employees. According to Lee Don, a philippine social worker, “More than 1 million Filipinos now work at call centers and in related outsourcing businesses, mostly serving American companies” (Don). American people lose their sense of security. They are not counted as an important asset for a company since tasks are being
