Compassion can be described as showing concern and being sympathetic to the people that are suffering. Patients go through the suffering due to their illnesses. A nurse has leave various comfort zones for them to ensure that they are fully engaged with whatever suffering that their patients are going through. In McNeill, Morrison, & Nouwen’s book of Compassion, “God’s compassion is not something abstract or indefinite, but a concrete, specific gesture in which God reaches out to us.” For Christian nurses, we are fully aware of what our patients are going through.
From an early age, I noticed I had a passion for helping others. I knew that I wanted to help people, and I felt the best way was to become a nurse. Nurses were the ones that I was always able to relate to when I would visit the doctor's office or go to the emergency room as a kid. I feel that the desire to take care of others and to always pursue excellence in everything I do stems from a deep-rooted childhood event that took place when I was three years old. This event is the loss of my father.
This profession goes beyond just medical knowledge; it emphasizes empathy, communication, and patient advocacy. I am drawn to the idea of being a patient's advocate, ensuring their physical and emotional needs are met, and providing support to both patients and their families during challenging times. Additional nursing is a career that has many career opportunities for me to expand and grow and specialize in certain fields to advance my further career. I actually decided to actively pursue nursing after I started at my current job as a receptionist at a GP surgery. I have gained enormous respect for the nurses and I decided this is a career I would like to explore.

I believe a job as a certified nurse assistant will give me a better insight while working beside nurses and observe what set of skills nurses use. My strengths that best suit my personality and this program are determination, effort, caring, critical thinker, discipline, and enthusiastic. These qualities would reflect on a nurse and would make caring for the patient easier. I believe that I belong in the nursing field, because ever since I was a child, I always wanted to make a positive influence in people's lives.
When I first decided that I wanted to be a nurse, I honestly had no idea what the career entailed. I understood the principles upon which most people perceive nursing is structured; however, I never knew what truly differentiated nursing from medicine or any other healthcare speciality. As I continued learning what nursing consists of, I began to appreciate its importance in healing. Regardless of how overlooked our role in society may be, I know that when people seek care, they are seeking nursing care. If people solely needed to see a doctor, then everything would be outpatient.
I didn 't always know that nursing was my choice of career. I have had no divine intervention, nor am I following in the footsteps of a parent or relative. However, I have had the pleasure of meeting a few healthcare professionals who have recently inspired me with their skill and passion; which I someday hope to equal or excel. I believe my main reason for choosing nursing as a career is my desire to help people; especially in some of their most vulnerable moments. I do not only want to be a caretaker, but I want to be a friend and trusted advisor to my patient.
Nursing is a caring and compassionate profession. It takes a very special person to meet the needs of patients. I am proud to say I answered the call. I am privileged to provide care to the most vulnerable population the underserved. My community health clinical in nursing school was when I realized I wanted to work with the underserved population.
ver since I was little, I always knew I wanted to take care of others since this was the principal value in my family. I discovered my passion for nursing because my Dad introduced me to the medical field, and in my life, I have been to many hospitals. Nurses are extraordinary to me because of the environment and how they are actively working. When I visited hospitals because of my family's broken bones or illnesses, I used to watch and be fascinated by nurses working. I witnessed how they were calm with every patient.
I have a heart for service and a strong desire to make a difference in people’s lives. Becoming a nurse I will be able to fulfill my passion of making a positive impact on individual lives on a daily basis. I will be able to fulfill my nurturing and caring desires of helping others. Nursing Judgment Today I had the opportunity to observe an adult med surg nurse. "The Adult Medical Surgical RN is responsible for managing the care of the adult or elderly patient experiencing general medical conditions or general surgical procedures, which require general assessments related to specific conditions, and general therapies and interventions. The Adult Medical Surgical RN is responsible to the Clinical Manager for assigned Adult Medical Surgical Unit" (Fastaff, 2018). The nurses on this unit are responsible for taking care of patients' post-surgery and even some who are not post-surgery but have complications. I experienced a negative situation today regarding a nurse and medicine administration.
I soon realized I’ll be away from home often, and that’s not something I’d be able to do in life. I then realized that I didn’t know what I wanted to do after all, even after reaching my senior year. I’ve decided that I want to study nursing due to having to struggle with my family’s health. I’ve seen my father live in a nursing home on two separate occasions and noticed that some workers are very impolite and impatient. This helped me reach the conclusion that I want to care for people because there are some who do very unkindly, and it’s a way to become financially stable.
As a child, I dreamed of acquiring a career in Nursing. I was always fascinated by the amount of respect that nurses received during my doctor visits throughout my childhood. There are many reasons why I chose to major in Nursing such as the ability to take care of someone, the money and benefits that the career offered, as well as job stability and flexibility. On of my main reasons for pursing Nursing is the ability to care for someone other than myself.
