I am interest in working abroad with an organization that responds to basic needs and encourages peace. My curiosity in these particular fields of study grew stronger when I joined international club at my high school and continued to grow through a cultural experience I had when I spent a month traveling around Europe. Although I have always had some root in pacifism, as a Mennonite, I have recently connected to this idea and have found this world view increasingly compelling. THE ZEBRA MUSSEL INCIDENT The Zebra Mussel Incident Zebra Mussels are an invasive species which now dominate the Great Lakes region, they were introduced in the 1980’s and ever since then their quantities have increased dramatically. Since the time they arrived they have caused many problems including problems in the ecosystem and with the economy. Human’s have been trying ever since their arrival to eliminate or reduce their quantities but not much progress has been made. Right now Zebra Mussels are one of the biggest issues affecting the great lakes.
In this essay, I will be explaining how the commission plan, non-partisanship at large elections, city manager plan, and stronger mayors worked together to destroy the power of the urban bosses, along with who opposed and supported this reform. These all worked together to destroy urban bosses power by the creation of progressivism, and giving the people the right to choose their candidates. First let’s talk about how the commission plan, which was developed in Galveston, Texas in 1901, worked against urban bosses. The commission plan, which was originally known as the Galveston plan, removed the use of urban bosses paying politician 's way into office. These commissioners were chosen for specific aspects aspects of municipal affairs, for example: public works, finance, or public safety.
Although in the end of “The Best Kind of People” George Woodbury expects his family will come back to him and forget just as the rest of the town did, his family does not feel the same affection and share the bond they once did and hoped that it would return to after the trial. The community shuns George when the accusations were made then accepts him after the trial. Whereas his family is there during the accusations and then after view him as a different man than the one they once knew. George’s family switches feelings from being loving and there for him to unsure and less accepting. Since childhood, politics and political thought have been important to me. I grew up in a family and school system that was made up of mostly strong conservatives, so I was not surprised by my results on the political typology quiz, which ranked me as a “steadfast conservative”. Although these views may have been implanted by the environment I grew up in, I have formulated my own thoughts on politics in recent years, and they all seem to align closely with conservative values. The factors that have undoubtedly had the greatest influence on my political socialization are my family, my religion, and my schooling. Growing up in a conservative family obviously has a great impact on a person’s political views.
I had the ability to create my own world in whatever abstract piece I saw fit. The freedom of being able to imagine a certain outcome without consequences gave me the encouragement to move forward. Right then, I made it my personal goal to practice in my sketchbook on a daily basis. To this day, besides the occasional sickness, I haven’t let myself down. This spawned an inevitable future. By drawing stories that had already been written I started to then make my own stories and characters. Drawing became part of my identity. Both in my family and at school I was identified as an “artsy kid.”
When I was a little kid I never settled on one dream job for very long, I always had too many ideas and wanted to try so many different things. The first thing I can remember wanting to be was a ballerina, specifically the prima ballerina. Then I wanted to be a painter. I imagined myself in a cute beret with paint splotches on my face, creating masterpieces. When neither of these things worked out, I figured I’d be better off just running things myself.
A Community Developer (CD) is a solid asset to Residence as they are mentors who provide resources for students and Resident Life Student Staff (RLSS). To add on, a CD is a resource that facilitates engagement with students/ RLSS to build positive relationships in Residence. CDs will also foster a sense of community by implementing events that follow a curriculum to benefit students in their learning about personal development, strengthening Indigenous awareness, strengthening Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI), and community engagement. A CD will also help RLSS achieve these learning goals by hosting office hours to mentor them on rights and responsibilities, giving guidance on CUportfolio, organizing/creating posters, etc. Thus, CDs are
From the moment of my birth, I was declared a girl and my parents immediately attempted to raise me to be every aspect of my gender, from behavior to beliefs. In sociology, this is known as gender role socialization, which is the process of socializing boys and girls to conform to their assigned genders’ attitudes, beliefs, behaviors, values, and norms. My parents taught me how think and behave like a girl through the way the way they dressed me, how they did my hair, and the toys they allowed me to play with. However, having been raised with a brother, I also picked up on some of his supposed gender roles. I am exactly who I am due to the way I was socialized by my parents and others around me.

Considering your lifetime goals, discuss how your current and future academic and extra-curricular activities might help you achieve your goals. My lifetime goal is to travel the world and study how different cultures influence the business of fashion. I believe through exploring varying cultures and exchanges, I will be an asset to stores, magazines, or film productions. As excited as I am to see the beauty, learn about the history and study the design, I am really eager to learn how to run a successful business.
My Self-Concept My self-concept includes a number of different adjectives and roles, these include both good and bad things. The adjectives I use to describe myself are as follows: kind, loyal, selfish, hard working, apathetic, practical, honest, occasionally rude, and procrastinator. As for the roles that I fill, I am a son, a brother, a friend, a student, the oldest son, and a teacher. Self-concept is a product of many things, it is not just simply what a person is.
I have always hated writing about myself, and I always dreaded assignments in school where I had to describe myself. I always wanted to avoid doing these assignments because I did not want to sound narcissistic, or self-absorbed. I dislike people like that now, because I used to be one of those people. It took many lessons learned before I humbled myself; I am still learning to humble myself today with recent experiences I have had. Although I hate to write about myself, I have always liked to reflect on myself.
My Ideal Self Who/what do you want to achieve/have, why? In the shorter term (3 years), I want to graduate from HELP University’s Degree of Psychology in first-class honours. I understand claims stating such academic achievement is merely a graduation certificate, without guarantee of work opportunities. However, my aim is not motivated towards work opportunities or anything materialistic; I just want to appreciate and value every learning opportunity.
