Why? Why is it wrong to have a permanent trailer hitch? It doesn’t make sense does it. Thats why I need to inform the public about this outrage among the people in Illinois. I don’t know why a state legislature could do this to the average person with a permanent hitch. It shouldn’t be illegal to drive with a permanent trailer hitch because It doesn’t affect your driving ability, does not affect the driver behind you, and the hitch doesn’t weigh down the vehicle. First, there is no way it affects your driving ability. The Trailer Hitches frame is directly bolted on the underneath of the car. When you're not using it the hitch isn’t blocking you mirrors in anyway whatsoever the little thing literally weighs about 1-3 pounds depending on the type you need. The driver isn’t gonna say “OMG I ALMOST HIT THAT TRAILER HITCH!” Most likely if you rear end someone the trailer hitch is going to be underneath if you have the same size vehicle. If you have a smaller vehicle and rear end someone then the hitch will take most of the blow, and stop you sooner. It only adds a few inches to the car so it won't really affect the stopping distance behind the vehicle you're following. Third, The trailer hitch doesn't weigh down the vehicle at all. The hitch will not weigh down your vehicle at all. The hitches don't pull the vehicle down, they are designed to not do that. Plus like I said before hitches weigh nothing, it will not for a fact weigh you down the frame that is bolted to the car so it won't do anything to affect that. On the other side, it may be a small distraction if the person behind you just focuses on the bumper of the car, but the hitch isn't really moving around so... If the hitch is clean and shiny it might have a small reflection and beam back at the driver behind you but that is very, very, very
