The pros to adoption far outweigh the cons in several different aspects of life. Worldwide there are more than 250,000 kids that get the chance to enjoy and become a part of a family. In the United States alone there are more than 127,000 children of all races adopted each year whether it’s through a family member, step-parents, or private agencies.(Adoption Statistics) With this staggering number one would think that there wouldn’t be too many kids that go unadopted each year. In a Credo article adoption is defined as being a process in which one gains total rights to a child. (Credo) In just about every country there is a certain process that has to take place for a child to be adopted. While there are several cons to adoption the pros of adoption seemingly outweigh the cons. In order to gain a firm perspective of why the pros actually outweigh the cons of adoption first one would have to understand the cons. The adoption process can be pretty costly when it comes to courts fees, attorney fees, homestudy fees, etc. When it comes to adopting a child one will need an attorney which can very well range from 1500-5000 dollars. Another fee that is very common is the agency application fee which could range from 100-600 dollars. As stated above there are many different aspects that play a factor in the adoption process and it’s cost.(Adoptive Families) In a study done in the UK in 2004 by Hipern Kate she raises the agruement that most people blindly consider adopting a child without every knowing exactly what it really takes to properly care for the child. In this study Hipern compares the average cost in raising a kid to buying a house. According to this study from birth to university parents spend on average 282,900 dollars when it comes to feeding, clothing, and education. (Hipern
