In no way should Affluenza be a reason to fall back on for a killing. Mental illness is a factor of their behavior, but not a justification and an should not be thought in any other way. Affluenza should not be used as an excuse for crime, let alone killing innocent people and there should be fair punishment weather you are rich or poor. Affluenza is a bull shit excuse to get you out of trouble. A basic definition is when a person does not know how to be responsible with their money. It should be looked at the other way around. Rich have more access to better schools and resources. They are left out of more common issues that go on in everyday life. “Couch was not responsible for his actions because his parents are rich”(Klump). But what killed those people was not by a mental illness person, it was done by someone who had broken the law by drinking and driving. His dumb mistake of drinking killed those people, not the being over privileged and that crap. It does not take a rich person to be a drunk and drive, just a stupid one. So there is no one and no illness that can be blamed on, just the person who decided to get in the car fully knowing it was a wrong. Growing up, parents do have the important role of teaching their kids morals. But a young man of that age, someone who is able to think for himself should know better.
