Assisted suicide is something that has been discussed in the medical field for years. It is something that a lot of thought has to go into before a real decision about it is made. I think that doctors should only assist someone in suicide if there is absolutely nothing they can do about what is happening to the patient, like if they had a brain tumor.
If doctors normally take oaths to always do what they can for their patients, they should not just give up on them and assist them in suicide. Doctors should always do everything they can, literally every possible thing they could think of to help their patients and to try and save their life. That would start a type of epidemic because many teens do attempt suicide at some point in their young lives. These reasons are why I wouldn’t want assisted suicide to become more common, teens would be dropping dead left and right.
Some people might say that assisted suicide would be a good thing because people in horrible pain could finally rest in peace with the doctors help and without doing something crazy

But if doctors start helping people commit suicide it would make doctors lazy because they would just label something as horrible with no chance of survival when anything could be fixed if you are smart and try hard enough. Doctors would start to get sloppy and lose the edge and professionality of their career, doctors would just be letting people die and give up so easily and that should not happen. People should be fighting for their life until their very last moment. Doctors should always be trying to save a patient’s life, no matter what kind of problems they have.
Doctors should never give up on their patient, but if a patient is completely untreatable then they should let them go, they will be in a better place. People should have the choice
