There are many issues when it comes to video games, and being a gamer, I can see why people would have problem when to come to “political issue”. I put political issue in quotation marks because some people think that any issues that must deal with minority is politics and should be left out of video games. Obviously, people with that mentality are not in the minority and don’t know how it feels to be felt out. Therefore, should pollical issues be left out of video games or should video games support a diverse universe where everybody is represented? From I remember was that most characters were male and if there was any female character, they were dress provocative or a side character. If a woman had a story to tell it was because of love. Love is the only motivation a woman has, and nothing else. Not because she wants to be seen heroic, but because her husband is in trouble and needs to save him or revenge him. If you do a quick google search of MMO females, what comes up? Well, images of females dressed up in revealing outfits. Panties and bras are the theme here and will not save you on the battleground, they need to invest in proper armor. Sure, males are depicted as beefy bodybuilder with no shirt on, but they seem powerful with their posture. Also, males’ storylines have variety to them and it isn’t always about love. This is a team based FPS (First Person Shooter) where different characters from around the world come together to battle. Now that sounds grim, but the beauty of this game is that every character has a back story that cover all diversity. Everybody is represented with different nationality, sexual orientation, and body shape. Characters come from different countries, and their voice actors aren’t all Americans putting on an accent, like some games like to do. They come from different countries that character represents, which is amazing and gets rid of whitewashing. Furthermore, character have different sexual orientation that is openly talked about, but there are only lesbian, there hasn’t been an openly gay male before in this game. They still need to appeal to their market target audience of young male. Are there still problems of diversity in this game? Yes, of course, but it’s still a huge leap from Mario days of saving a defenseless
