Pros And Cons Of Fracking

A resource called natural gas has been sought after in recent years. It is a clean form of energy that doesn’t contribute as much to global warming as other forms of non-renewable energy. But is this worth tremors that destroy houses and lives, air pollution that makes the air quality drop, and water waste making it harder to live?
Recently an old method of extracting natural gas from the shale layer has gained controversy. This has happened due to events taking place in regions where fracking is legal and used. The events are mostly natural events that are happening either faster or more frequently. I feel that due to these events, fracking is bad and should be stopped.
There are quite a lot of facts about fracking. Fracking is a method of extracting natural gas from the earth. A hole is dug deep into the earth. This hole is one to two miles deep (Life Science). The hole also needs to be encased in some strong material so high elevation ground water doesn’t leak in. Once the hole is fully enclosed, high pressured water is shot deep underground (Life Science). The water is so pressured that it is capable of breaking stone. The goal is to break open a vein where natural gas is located. The natural gas is pumped up to the person who initially was fracking there and take it. The company then is able to do whatever …show more content…

Due to the fact that some natural compounds are found in the rock, not only does natural gas get released, but so does those compounds (Life Science). These compounds are usually unhealthy, and could kill someone. They rise up to the surface, and the air is now polluted with some dangerous air that are bad to people with lung problems. Fracking also contributes partially to global warming. Carbon dioxide is also located in the rocks, and since climate change is caused mostly by carbon dioxide, the air in the atmosphere gets a large supply of carbon dioxide (Life
