Medicare is a federal government health insurance program for individuals 65 or older, under 65 with disabilities, or any age with End Stage Renal Disease of ALS. Medicare Part A covers inpatient hospital stays or skilled nursing facilities. Medicare Part B covers physician visits, outpatient services and some preventive care. Medicare Part D is the prescription drug coverage. Medicare Advantage (Part C) includes Part A, Part B and usually Part D depends on the coverage you choose. Medicaid is a joint federal and state health insurance program that helps pay the costs for families with limited income and resources. It also made health insurance unaffordable for many people. Case in point, if I did not have employer health insurance my monthly premiums would be $785.00. My significant other is currently paying a monthly premium of $1,081.98. The same policy pre-Obama care was $173.00. The worse part of the Affordable Care Act is now, a private individual cannot shop around for health insurance. The Affordable Care Act took free enterprise out of the health insurance market place and left private citizens with the Health Insurance Exchange. I am sorry, but I personally do not see anything affordable in the Affordable Care Act. We are stuck paying extremely high insurance premiums or risking not having insurance and paying a government-imposed tax penalty. Thank you, Mr. Obama. Only in the United States of America can you take insurance away from those that have insurance and give insurance to those that do not have insurance, and now no one can afford insurance. The issue is not Medicare, Medicaid or uninsured, they are well taken care of. The issue is those that own property or have something to lose if they incur high medical bills. Just this past week, I had a patient with a lung nodule that needs a CT Chest. She declined because she owns property and does not qualify for charity. She makes too much money for government assistance with health insurance premiums, therefore she is uninsured. She would have to pay for the CT out of pocket. Therefore, she has declined medical care for the lung
