This will give students the opportunity to focus all their attention on the one class/time they choose as well as maintain a part/full time job or sports schedule if need-be. This will also benefit the teachers by giving them the option to teach a selected course at one or two of the selected times each month. This schedule will allow courses to be more available from 2-4 classes in a normal semester to up to 20 (four time blocks x 5 months a semester) based on class fill-up and teacher availability. This could open up the opportunity for students to graduate in approximately 3 years (120 credits/39 a semester = 117 in 3 years with one course
Be it resolved that Rogers High School should adopt a block scheduling system. Block scheduling is a system for middle and high schools by replacing the typical day of six or seven classes that are about 40-50 minutes every day with a schedule of three or four classes that are longer and meet less times a week. Whether it’s because less time is being wasted or the noise and chaos that come with passing time, block schedules benefit both teachers and students alike.
They both benefit students in different ways. For me, I like certain classes more than others so block scheduling gave me more time to be in that class but for traditional what if my favorite class wasn 't that day traditional scheduling gives me a chance to be in that class regardless of how much time I have. For both methods, you do home a tremendous amount of information to carry around and retain. Also, they both better social skills giving you a chance to communicate with other people and helps with getting comfortable with speaking to others. At the same time, they both also benefit students to have classes with
First of all, block scheduling demands that most classes meet up every other day which results in the loss of continuity that students have always had. As Queen, Algozzine & Eaddy
For example, my cousin does not have block schedule at his school and he said that he never gets the one on one connections with his teacher and sometimes needs more time with the teacher. He also said that the teacher doesn't always have time to finish the whole subject, which puts them behind in class. This example shows that because of not having block schedule it give them limited time in class not being able to complete a full topic. This causes them to fall behind and their grades could eventually drop. This proposal is beneficial to both students and teachers.
A student will be getting eight credits a year. GCA should have block scheduling instead of the traditional seven class periods a day. Block scheduling is a good idea because it allows students to earn more credits, have more instruction time, and allows for more time for extra-curricular activities. Allowing block scheduling in our school would help the stress level among the teachers and students. It would also help to create a better atmosphere within the school, and change the environment in the school.
Teachers have reported academic improvements, better attendance, and students that are less moody and less likely to fall asleep in class, and I know you care for each student in the district and want the best for each individual. A simple change in the school schedule can decrease these risks and result in successful
Multitrack scheduling provides the ability to educate more students without the means of building a new school (Gerard, 2007). For example, in a school that holds 750 students at one time if they switched to multitrack scheduling using four groups could comfortably educate 1000 students (Morton, 1994). Multitrack scheduling makes the school administrators and teachers jobs harder, however, more frequent vacations help to reduce administrative and teacher “burnout” (Opheim, Mohajer, Read,
Our school, Central Regional High School, has put into action for next year the most idiotic thing ever, block scheduling. There are numerous versions of block scheduling and most are just all around bad. Some versions include having 4 classes half of the year and 4 different classes the other half or yu have 4 classes on Mon. ,Wed. ,Fri, and 4 different ones Tues.
In a bunch of surveys, some authors noted that teachers reported that they were able to give out more instruction on this schedule (Turner, et al 3). This is great because if the teachers are teaching more in the time that they are given, then that means that the students are actually paying attention which will help them learn more. Another example of this is when Donis-Keller and Silvernail explains, “Studies using surveys of teachers and students have found that other observed benefits include fewer class interruptions and distractions because of the lengthened day (and thus class periods) which leads to increasing the efficiency of instruction” (8). Whenever teachers have more efficient instruction, they teach the class more in a shorter amount of time, which just shows how beneficial the four day school week is. This is how teachers and students are using their time in school more effectively with the changed
A major thing for schools to decide whether or not to have is recess in the school schedule. Schools should have recess because it gives the kids a time to let loose from school work and have fun so you’re not stuck in the classroom all day learning. I believe schools should have recess because students need time to relax, it helps keep physical health, and helps the brain focus more.
(Weller 3). This is a problem because it takes away quality family time from students, which is essential for their well-being. Thirdly, a second benefit is that the year-round schooling system helps solve the problem of overcrowding. (Zubrzycki 1). Since all students wouldn 't be in school all at the same time, it eliminates the overcrowding problem.
For example, a big pro is the decrease in a student’s stress and absences. Some cons are that there will be less time to learn and a possible drop in test scores. The school district should give teachers and students a four-day school week as a break. Both teachers and students can quickly get burnt out on going to school and would benefit from getting a break once a week. Most districts hold up on having a four-day week is that there will be a possible drop in test scores, but test scores do not mean as much as people think they do.
Four-day school weeks have the capability to change student lives. Every school should invest in the four-day school week plan. Implementing this routine would allow teachers more time to teach and give students the option to do their homework during class, in turn creating student success. All of these factors would help to enhance student and faculty life, while promoting success in the classroom. Having a school system run on a four-day rotation would increase their success by offering more opportunities for lesson and work time.
Although this could result in students being in school 30 minutes longer it gives them the opportunity to complete some tasks that would cause them stress later that
