Recess Should be in the Middle School Schedule Recess was all I was looking forward to the entire day. I would play basketball, football, and soccer when we went out for recess in elementary. When middle school first came, it changed because you had certain days of going outside, so when you go outside it is just 15 to 10 minutes a day or some days we would not have recess at all because the gym was either being used or it was too cold to go outside. That is why I do not want this to end for everyone. A major thing for schools to decide whether or not to have is recess in the school schedule. Schools should have recess because it gives the kids a time to let loose from school work and have fun so you’re not stuck in the classroom all day learning. Kids need relaxing time, especially middle school kids, because the transaction from elementary to middle school is demanding. According to the Scholastic Scope magazine, “...kids have a better time paying attention when they had time to relax…” (Carro 30) The amount of homework you get in elementary is less than the amount of homework than middle school. We need time to relax, so we don’t get tired and get lower test scores, and not have enough time to do homework. We want time to relax because school is not giving us time to relax and have fun.
