“Assisted Suicide will discriminate against the old, the ill, and the disabled” (Diane Coreman). Physician Assisted Suicide (PAS) should not be legal in any state or country. PAS allows ‘Mature Minors’ to end their lives if their mental illness is “Unbearable” or “Untreatable”. There is always help, and suicide should not be the main option we give the adolescents of our world. Cleary PAS will discriminate against the people who have suffered or are suffering that won't qualify for help of suicide. “…The application of the criteria for assistance [in dying]…while not easy in every case, is relatively straightforward. For psychiatric patients, however, for whom a desire to die is often part of the disorder and whose response to additional treatment is less certain, the competence of their decision and the intractability of their suffering are much more difficult to assess.” (Dr. Paulc Appelbaum). Where i could see how ‘mature’ minors can decide for themselves they don't know what is best for them and by giving them the decision of PAS we are not giving them a chance to find help or fight for a better life. No mental illness is untreatable. There is always help waiting for you and if you seek the help of professionals they can help you find and achieve a better life. If we give people the option of assisted suicide, especially minors, how do you think that the elder will feel? There are elders who have suffered lives that we can't even begin to imagine, yet they had to push through and find help. What about the disabled? They have learned to live a life of discomfort, pain, embarrassment, and didn't have the help of PAS. there shouldn't be an option of assisted suicide when there is help waiting for
