Over the many constitutions that Texas has ratified, the number of terms limited to the state governor only increased as time went on. Currently, Texas has no limits on the amount of terms a state governor can serve; Rick Perry actually holds the record for longest running governor totalling four terms until he finally decided not to run again. According to the editorial titled, “Texas Governor Needs Term Limits” (My SanAntonio, 19 September 2010) a similar term limit, like the one imposed on the president of the United States, is needed for Texas governors. The editorial includes examples of terms from the beginning of the government and up until now. In contrast, the editorial titled, “Why Texas Doesn’t Need Term Limits” (The Dallas Morning
Texas Annexed to the United States On February 19, 1846, Texas was annexed to the United States of America. After many years of never-ending negotiations, Texas was finally admitted into the Union. Despite gaining independence, Texas would continue to face several problems. Texas, at this time, did not have enough forces to defend itself, which meant that they could be vulnerable to an attack from Mexico.
A constitution is the fundamental law by which a nation or a state is governed and organized. It establishes the framework of government, delegates the powers and duties of governmental bodies, and defines the relationship between the government and their citizens. Texas current constitution was adopted in 1876, and since then Texas voters have approved more than 467 amendments to this document. The word “amendment” is defined as the act or process of changing the words or the meaning of a law or document (constitution). Throughout this essay I will explain the rules for amending the Texas Constitution, the attempts made at constitutional reforms during the 1970s, explain why constitutional reforms were attempted and why it ultimately failed.
Our nation’s highways are a critical circulatory system to our nation’s transit structure. Motorists on today’s highways are capable of reaching far locations without the hassle of navigating short routes through developed areas. High volumes of traffic, low speed restrictions as well as impractical routes of traveling off the national highway grid further emphasize its necessity to our country. The future of our nation’s growth depended on an efficient means of modern transportation, and the automotive industry was shaping up to be that answer. The benefits to the country proved boundless, furthermore the project put citizens across America to work.
While many would point to the space shuttle or the television as advancements of the 2-th century that defined society today, one that is often overlooked is the interstate highway system that was established by President Dwight D. Eisenhower through the Interstate Highway Act. This highway system stretched 41,000 miles throughout the country to eliminate unsafe roads, inefficient routes, traffic jams and all of the other things that got in the way of “speedy, safe transcontinental travel” (History.com). What is significant about the interstate highway system is the vast scope that it affects. From the economy of the country to the leisure of the citizens, this system contributes to the success of the country significantly.
Cars are personal vehicles designed for individual or group transportation, while highways are large road networks designed to provide efficient and safe travel between destinations. If this is the case, then surely expanding it through cities such as Austin would be the right choice or is it. The expansion of I-35 is a debate that is being argued
Ortiz 1 Crystal Ortiz Professor Sharifian 2306- 74428 14 May 2017 Lobbyist and Interest Groups in Texas Interest groups of people who try to influence public policy, by bribing them with their favorite wants. According to the analysis being read, I do believe that there should be more restriction on which interest group should abide by. The amount of money used from them is above and beyond our norm. By that I mean, the amount of money is being used excessively and in tremendous amounts. For instance, the article mentions that “$4,703,298.96 was wasted in food beverage.”
Sprawling cities’ design is not very suitable for vehicles, since mostly the roads are narrower and it is hard to drive on these roads. Also, some roads are not designed for cars, so there is no way they can drive. It will also benefit those people who love biking and walking because it provides them more opportunities to bike and walk with friends. Also, I think it will benefit children as well. If there is fewer traffics on the streets, which means they have more space to play and have fun
The framers of the Texas Executive established a system that was designed to check the powers of the government. As opposed to the US Constitution that vested the power of the executive in the president of the nation (Berry, 1385), the Texas Constitution sought to ensure that the state did not have the excess powers. As such, they came up with a plural system where a variety of individuals make up the executive branch of the state (Texas State Government at a Glance). While the governor of the state remains as the highest ranking officials in the state, they hold the least of powers in the plural system.
America has a problem with the Interstate Highway System. This are ways we can improve and make the roads better. By avoiding Rush Hour and Narrow roads and also urgent situations. We can stop this and improve by taking different routes and building new streets that’s not narrow. We need to start by slowing your speed down, paying attention to the road and driving very safely so others won’t get hurt by the choices others are making.
Inventions have the ability to completely change our lives, but none have changed it so drastically than the automobile. Inventions change the way our societies function and sometimes they alter them so much that we end up modeling our world to accommodate the needs of these inventions. Sometimes these innovations impact our society so much that we couldn’t even imagine life without this invention because we’ve become so dependent on it. This invention is the car. The car has affected our lives in many ways , and one of them is that we’ve built our cities to accommodate the needs of cars by building roads in places we could have put something other than roads, such as a park or a building.
Making vehicles legal in the United States Vehicles becoming street legal is a thing that a lot of car people seem to talk a lot about vehicles being able to be allowed into the United States. A lot of people believe that any and every vehicle should be allowed into the United States but some people think differently. Some people believe that not every car should be allowed into the States because they believe for safety or any other reason they may have. I know that there are people that want to make sure that vehicles that are illegal stay illegal because they want safety. Reasons as to why certain vehicles are illegal are because of emissions, the height of the vehicle, the power it has coming straight out of the factory, exhaust systems,
First of all, let’s talk about the environment. I’m sure you all know about greenhouse gases and global warming, so I won’t talk much about that, but you may not know that road vehicles produce 10% of all man-made greenhouse gas emissions. This does include vehicles other than cars like trucks, but Tesla just came out with an electric truck which is faster and can carry more weight than any petrol/diesel truck. Greenhouses gases carbon-dioxide and methane have hit their highest levels in the past 420,000 years, and the extent of arctic sea ice has declined about 10% in the last 30 years. This is all because of global warming, and if we start switching to electric cars, we could make a big difference and maybe, just maybe the effects of global warming will decrease.
Although we live in a society where cars are thought to be necessary, as time goes on, less and less people are interested in getting a license. There are many advantages of limiting car usage. There are easier, more efficient ways to get from point a to point b by skating, riding a bus or a bicycle. Worldwide there have been experiments where a community would be banned from the use cars in order to reduce smog. In Bogota, Colombia a program was created where people have been prohibited to use their cars while only allowing buses or taxis.
Travelling helps us to know more about different lifestyles, cultures, cuisines and festivals. Visiting new sights and exploring new places increases our knowledge and widens our global perspective. We get to learn so many things about different cultures and customs. It makes us open minded and gives us a new viewpoint about life and it also changes some of our bad habits.
