“Currently, more than 45 million Americans lack any form of health insurance.” (Chau, 2008, p. 1). When President Obama introduced the Affordable Care Act also referred to as ObamaCare, it was not openly accepted by most people, however U.S. citizens should reconsider what this Bill means for those who are in a lower class with few opportunities to health care. There are far more pros to the Affordable Care Act than cons.

Most Americans are uncomfortable with the plan because it is more socialist thinking. (Palfreman & Reid, 2008). As seen in other countries and in the U.S. recently, universal health care causes the wait time to see a doctor to be much longer which could be a serious problem. (Palfreman & Reid, 2008). “At least 40 U.S. veterans died waiting for appointments at the Phoenix Veterans Affairs Health Care system” (Bronstein, S., Devine, C., & Jimenez, J., 2014, p. 1). An article from CNN reports Veterans who served the U.S. died because of unreasonable extended wait lists and substandard care because ObamaCare now opened the doors for those Americans who were previously uninsured and doctors and hospitals are overwhelmed because of them. (Bronstein, S., Devine, C., & Jimenez, J., 2014, p. 1). Another major issue with the Affordable Care Act is the raise in taxes it is sure to bring. In other countries with similar plans their taxes are significantly higher than those in the U.S. (Right to Health Care ProCon, 2014, p. 2). Most Government programs, like Food Stamps are extremely abused and costing those who work for a living and pay taxes millions of dollars. ObamaCare will surely only contribute to this
