Should murderers, and other brutal criminals, be executed rather than spend life in jail?
What makes a person deserve the death penalty? Execution is a process of intentionally killing an individual who is found guilty of committing a brutal crime. For many people, sentencing a criminal to death row is a questionable subject. In my opinion, there is no way to justify execution. One reason being, I recognize that criminals can learn from their mistakes. Furthermore, I also feel that taking away a murderer’s life, makes you a murderer yourself. Lastly, I feel that instead of being executed, criminals must deal with the consequence of being a prisoner. The purpose of supporting prisoners is to allow them to better their lives. Time is always required for anyone to learn from their mistakes. Keeping all that in mind, executing a criminal doesn’t allow them to reflect on the significance of the offense they have committed. Overall, it is important to remember that people must have a second chance in life to learn from their past experiences.
The main reason why laws are established is to serve and protect all citizens. Regarding murder, laws are enforced to inform people that killing others is wrongful and prohibited. Through my own experience, I feel that if a higher authority sets a rule, it is their obligation to be a role model and commit to the rule themselves.
