The First Amendment guarantees freedoms concerning religion, expression, assembly, and the right to petition. There are many ideas expressed in times where it would be inappropriate or unnecessary to use one’s freedom of speech. These circumstances would be where something is inappropriate or misidentified as hate speech. There are many situations where someone may want to say something, yet there are times where some things should not be said. A situation where it would be rude or unkind to say something to someone could be when a friend of yours wants to ask someone to prom. If someone tells you about their plans and asks you not to say anything and you wanted to tell that person about the plan, it could end in disaster. It is rude because it is a sensitive situation, very private and it would ruin the surprise of being asked. If this were to happen, someone could lose a friendship and they could also lose an opportunity to ask that special someone. Another example of an inappropriate event could be where you want to correct someone. This situation varies as to how someone was trying to correct another person. If someone had mispronounced a word while giving a toast during a wedding, it would be very inappropriate not just to that person, but also to the bride and groom.
