The main purpose of this vaccine is to aid in the prevention of cervical cancers linked to various strains of the human papillomavirus. Opponents of the vaccine have voiced several concerns. Some believe that since the virus is a sexually transmitted disease, girls will develop a false sense of security and protection against all sexually transmitted diseases after receiving the vaccination.
