With only one waiter on duty, a large Rotary Club of around twenty-six people enters a restaurant with no reservations. They ask for everything to be put onto one bill and order around $500 worth of food and drinks. After they are finished eating, the treasurer of the group asks for everything to be put onto separate bills instead of the one. This causes the already exhausted waiter even more distress having to try and split it correctly. Once the bills are brought out and the customers leave, the waiter notices that two people had skipped out on paying--one being the treasurer himself. On top of this, all of the tips from the other twenty-four people only add up to around $10, a two percent tip (What Is the Worst Tipping Story You Have?). Most people consider the regular tipping amount to be around fifteen percent, but according to U.S. Today, now a twenty percent tip is becoming standard at most places in the United States (Stark). A proper way would be to leave a fifteen percent tip nicely set out on the table. Some improper ways include leaving your dollar tip in all pennies, hiding your money between the saucy, sticky plates for the “waiter to find”, or leaving a piece of paper as a tip with your number or Snapchat name scrawled across it. However, the last option can be kind of entertaining to find. Another thing people should keep in mind is that waiters and waitresses usually do not really like to receive coupons and gift cards in place of cash. It is possible that there could be a certain occurrence in which this is not the case, but it may be best to stick to the safe side and go about tipping the ordinary
