Pros And Cons Of Year Round School

Year round schooling has been a topic for a while. Year round schooling is where you go to school for the whole year, and instead of getting summer break you get a week off from every month. There are good reasons why we should and shouldn’t have year round schooling and I think that we shouldn’t.
The first reason why kids should have a summer break is because year round school is too complicated. According to Chris Piehler, year round schools have different schedules than other schools which make it harder to schedule events. Parents who have kids on a different schedule, or in a different district, it would be hard to plan vacations or other family activities. It is easier to find a babysitter for three months’ strait, rather than one week every month (Piehler). As a student, summer vacations help with refreshing a kid’s mind, so they are ready for the new school year. According to Nickson Chong, “summer is a time when you don’t have to worry about homework and due dates, instead it’s a time to relax”. Summer is for making memories and spending time with your family. Hanging out with your friends and family during the summer is the best time to catch up and have quality time. As a student, I spend most of my time at home doing homework and not being able to spend time with friends or family. Summer break has become accustomed to families. For families it would be difficult to plan a vacation when you only have about one week off of every month. Summer is for picking up hobbies and having fun.
