Year-round schooling is a bad idea because it would not benefit people with summer jobs and people who want to go on vacations. Year-round schooling is not a good idea for Pellston
Public Schools. Our area feeds off of tourists in the summer which provides a lot of jobs for younger people in our area. If Pellston were to switch to year-round schooling many student workers would have a decrease in the amount of hours they normally worked compared to the ones they are able to work in the summer months. For many local businesses these are their busiest time which means many extra hands are much needed. If Pellston had year-round schooling the student workers would be sitting in classrooms instead of helping at the local restaurants, merchandise stores, and ice-cream parlors. Without the extra hands the businesses might not have enough hands to keep everything stocked and running smoothly or even giving people days off every once in awhile.
Without businesses running smoothly they lose customers without enough customers they would have to close their doors which could possibly mean leaving many without jobs in our area.
If year-round schooling took place student workers would have less time to work. With workers having less time on their hands they wouldn't be able to put as many hours in. For many student workers they have to work in order to pay for insurance and gas or even save up for a car. With no time that means less income. Student workers trying to prepare themselves for life after highschool year-round schooling could negatively affect their plans drastically and their bank accounts.
