PSYCHOLOGICAL PERSPECTIVE OF THE PERPETRATORS Laura Schlessinger, an American talk radio host and author, said “when you're the victim of the behaviour, its black and white; but when you're the perpetrator, there are a million shades of gray.” Perpetrators are those who initiate, facilitate, or carry out inhuman acts of uncivilized behaviour against humanity. The definition also extends beyond the proximal agent of aggression to encompass those in distal positions of authority whose orders or plans are carried out by functionaries. In simple terms, perpetrators are those who violate the rights of others. They may believe their ideology to such an extent that their evil not only is morally justifiable but also in order to protect the cherished values of their community, preserve peace and stability, save humanity from defeat or honour their so called national commitments. …show more content…

The “military” themselves have become a threat for the people in the state. The harbingers of security are one of the major reasons for insecurity. There is a constant fear of arbitrary arrests, enforced disappearances, sexual harassments, torture, custodial deaths which are supported by the various legal acts. The increase in the militarization has led rise to the increase in militancy. Even though the militancy have emerged with certain ideologies which aligns with the ideas of certain group of population, their actions against the state and military leads them to come under the banner of perpetrators merely because of their actions facilitating violence. Then there are the general public who often indulge in violent activities against the military and the paramilitary forces. This too leads to violation of the basic rights of another group of
