We all have that one job that we aspire to reach that will bring meaning to our lives and fulfill us in a way no other job could. For me that is behavioral analysis. As a child, I knew that helping others was where my true passion lay. From an early age, finding the perfect niche seemed like an impossible task. The biggest questions I asked myself were what area do I want to study and where do I begin, as there were many options before me. After walking several dead-end routes, I discovered one that was different; while the others were filled with fascinating information and adventures, this new path satiated a part of me that was previously missing. I elected to study psychology because it gives me the tools to help people and provides a stepping stone towards my dream job, while at the same time bringing me closer to being able to answer the one question that is always on my mind. Death quickly became an ever-present part of my reality when my father’s unit was deployed a few months into my freshman year. I’ve witnessed families and friends grieve for their lost loved one. I felt completely helpless and found myself wishing I could eradicate their suffering. By studying psychology, I now have a better understanding of how people think and their actions. Death is an invisible force that nobody can escape, however not all deaths are equal. Preventing these unnecessary deaths, and thereby preventing unnecessary suffering, is what I truly strive to achieve in my life and I believe behavioral analysis will help me reach that
