However, the government in many places wants more regulations over homeschool education. Many want it to be outlawed altogether and the privilege to be taken away from families in order to have more control stating abuse and neglect on the parents part. Others want a more rigorous testing schedule and minimum educational requirements provided by the parent wanting to educate. Educational options serve to help the children not just be another number in the school system. They provide opportunities to engage students and nurture their interests in order to grow their knowledge of the working world they will eventually
Standardized testing has not improved education in America. Standardized tests have been issued in schools all across the nation for years now. Some people like them and some people don’t. They do not help the student learn more information than they would without the tests. The U.S. has dropped from 18th highest scores in schools in the world to be in the 30’s on almost all of the subjects on the test.
As a freshmen in college, I am supposed to know what career I want to pursue in the future. However, I am having troubles choosing one specific career due to the growing amount of careers we have today. At this moment, I am certain that I want a career that All that I know for sure is that I want to pursue a career that positively impacts another individuals life. For instance, being that person that boosted another individuals’ confidence or teaching/informing an individual something they never learned before. At this moment, I have two careers in mind: a Dental Hygienist or an Elementary School Teacher.
Parents can compare how their students are doing compared to other schools and even other states. Standardized testing allows schools to compare their results against other schools results. Another reason standardized testing is good is because the tests allow the students’ progress to be tracked throughout the year. If these students are taking similar tests yearly, then it is easy to see if they are improving, declining or staying at the same level. This is very important because then a parent can know what’s going on with their child and if they are improving that’s probably good news
Going Against the Standard According to Tim Walker, “Only 14% of parents say standardized testing is important in measuring school effectiveness” (Walker). A standardized test is a test that is given in a consistent or “standard” manner. Standardized tests are designed to have consistent questions, administration procedures, and scoring procedures. When a standardized test is administered, it is done so according to certain rules and specifications so that testing conditions are the same for all test takers. They often provide some type of “standard score” which can help interpret how far a child score ranges from the average student (Johnson).

There are a plethora of private and home education options available nationally. On average, homeschooled students receive considerably higher scores on standardized tests than public schooled students. While median scores for most standardized tests for public school students are around the fiftieth percentile, the median score of homeschoolers on the same standardized tests are in the eightieth percentile or higher, in all subjects.

(Studies show that a typical student takes an average of 112 mandated standardized tests between Pre-K and 12th grade.) While standardized testing is one of the main procedures that Universities use to judge incoming students, it is not proven to be the most effective way to convey a student’s actual intelligence level. The U.S. should not focus so heavily on standardized testing because it is not a complete accurate measurement of a student’s intelligence.
There are not many other ways to check how students are doing in school and if they are comprehending what is being taught. It can be easy for students to get lost in the system and fall behind, an “Only in this way can the teacher know if the student needs intervention and remediation; if the curriculum matches the course requirements; or if the teaching methods needed are in some way lacking and require adjustment”(Gross). Standardized tests are an important way that the schools keep track of students' learning so that no one gets lost in the system. A child who needs extra help when learning but does not have the accommodation yet will get lost and stuck behind but with these tests that child can get the help they need to feel more confident in their learning ability. However, teachers can get the results needed to see if changes are necessary by doing a variety of individual assignments that can be entertaining.
Many say that standardized tests are the best way to know if students are learning what they are supposed to be learning ,and if they have achieved the required learnings standards to pass their classes and grade level.

Home schooling preferred often by the parents that have environmental concerns, religious beliefs, lack of confidence to the education quality of the public and private schools and inadequacy of curriculum. They believe that they can give better education to their children at home. According to Jamie Martin (Homeschooling 101: What Is Homeschooling, 2012), home schooling began to grow in the 1970s, when popular writers and researchers such as John Holt and Dorothy and Raymond Moore wrote about the educational reforms and they alleged that home schooling is a valid educational alternative.

Some Parents believe that sending their children to public schools in which qualified teachers are responsible for educating them is beneficial .However, other parents believe that it is better for their children to be educated at home by people who know their needs. In this paper, I intend to argue with educating children at home.

Standardized testing does not require much of an effort. These tests are checked by the computer thus, saving more time and since these tests are administered in the same manner, it would be easier for them to evaluate the test results because these tests have its own standards. These tests are also objective and are based by general-knowledge thus, making the test results unbiased and non-subjective. Educators will also be able to compare and evaluate a student’s progress over a period of time. These tests would show whether a student has performed well or not (OccupyTheory, 2014).
