Public School vs. Homeschool “Public education is our greatest pathway to opportunity in America. So we need to invest in and strengthen our public universities today, and for generations to come” (Obama). Public school is a school that is free to the public and has many kids that attend. Public education is proven and has no cost, it has certain curriculums. Homeschooling is schooling at home that is usually taught by a parent, homeschooling usually has a cost. Although many kids get homeschooled the education isn’t proven. We don’t know if kids really do their work. Many people believe public schooling has negative consequences on children but it actually has positive effects because of proven education, social life, and free education. Public education is proven education and students performance can be tracked. Standardized testing holds teachers and schools accountable. The greatest benefit of standardized testing is that teachers and schools are responsible for teaching students what they are required to know for these standardized tests. This is primarily because these scores become public record and teachers and schools who don’t perform up to par can come under intense scrutiny. Standardized testing is important in schools, with this testing they can figure out what kids need more time on to learn. This testing can help your child in many ways, when taking it and getting results back the teacher can help your child with anything that they are struggling
