Pursuing A Biomedical Engineering Program At The University Of Michigan

World renowned, top-tier, and highly qualified: those are the first three things I think of when I think of the engineering program at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. There are many things that attract me to the undergraduate College of the Engineering, but the opportunities available, the commitment to societal issues, and the rigor of academics are what put it amongst the top.

The College of Engineering at the University of Michigan is unique because of the level of commitment it has towards offering research opportunities to undergraduates. As I visit the website, I am lost by the vast amounts of information surrounding research opportunities and resources available to undergraduate students. If I am admitted into the College of Engineering after I submit my Early Action application, some programs that I look forward to participating in, specifically as a biomedical engineering student, are programs such as CHEPS and Bio-interfaces institute, which strive to improve the healthcare system through a multidisciplinary initiative.The ability to work within disciplines and with students from across majors is very appealing to me because it mimics what most students will see when they graduate and enter the workforce. Every single article, website, and person I have talked to at the College of Engineering always mentions work done for other people. Never do they stand to point out the achievements or accolades they have earned as individuals, but instead they always point to the projects and works that others have benefitted from.
