My devotion for the medical field runs back as early as the beginning of my high school career in the year 2013. Although not quite sure what career I wanted to commit to ultimately, being a part of the health sciences at a STEM academy sparked my interest in the sciences fully and over that time period grew my decision to major in nursing when I began my college career to later pursue a career as a registered nurse. Although the process is trying as a first generation college student, I know I have what it takes to reach my goals in life and in my college career. My perseverance, faith, commitment, and passion for what I am trying to do are my fixes that drive me to succeed. I believe Winston-Salem State University and its professors have pushed me beyond what I thought were limitations to properly equip me mentally and academically for what I plan to do and although seemingly minor, I also have had the opportunity to gain experience working on a different spectrum of healthcare with my current employer. My job title does not limit me to the exposure I’ve had to positions necessary to properly run a healthcare facility and as a result became an addition to my already established curiosity and interest in my career path.
