I will be using a qualitative research school environment. This method will benefit my research more than a qualitative design method because it will be a more personal style that will focus on the impact of a child whose parent/ parents chose to deny the fact that their child has a disability on the child’s school environment; According to Sande & Schwartz the ultimate goal is to develop an in depth understanding of the reality of the people involved in the phenomenon of interest (Sande & Schwartz, 2011) . I will be conducting a single research method by doing face to face interviews with teachers and principals of schools in the Nanaimo area. It will have give a strong representation of the issue because it will be based on actual accounts from teachers as to how a parent’s denial can impact the educational experience of the child with the learning disability. The accounts will be from teacher’s that have willingly agreed to participate which will influence the information gathering process because it will be an upfront account of teacher/ child’s social exchange in the face of parental denial . The relevance of this personal account will be to inform those that work in the social work field to help them gain knowledge about the effects on a children’s learning environment within the education system from the perspective of teachers. This is important because as Hartshorne states “External variables like stigmatizing social attitudes, a poor social network, and difficulties with professionals are all related to adjustment” (Hartshorne,2002).This research design is appropriate to study my research question because it goes directly to the source to understand the impact of denial of a learning disability by a parent on the child and the teacher. From this information I will be able to conclude how parental denial of a child with a learning disability is impacted in the education system that they are part of. To avoid possible ethical issues I will ask permission prior to using any information that is disclosed. I want to have as professional appearance as possible when asking questions. By doing these practice interviews I may be able to gain feedback as to what could actually transpire with the type of questions I present to the people I am
