Methods
For our research, we performed a survey that included eight questions that pertained to gender, age, relationship status, sexual activity, attributes for a potential partner, and the desire to eventually get married. We distributed our survey amongst college students that attend Bakersfield Community College (BCC) located in Bakersfield, Ca. In the (JOAQUIN) class, there were seven males and sixteen females. Therefore, our sample was twenty-three college students. This concluded that our sample was 30% male and 70% female.
Question one from our survey was “What is your gender”? Out of twenty-three students, 30% were male, and 70% were female. Question two from our survey was “Which age group do you associate with”? Out of the males, 100% said yes yet out of the females 63% said yes, 12% said no, and 25% are already married. Question six from our survey was “Please rank the following attributes of a potential husband or wife from one being the most important to 5 being the least significant (financial stability, sexual past, physical characteristics, religion, and education).” (JOAQUIN) Question seven from our survey was “For some people the number of sexual partners can be an issue. For you, which of the following numbers would be a deal breaker?” Out of the seven males, 29% said six to ten is too many, 29% said ten and up is too many, and 42% said it doesn’t matter. Out of the sixteen women 12% said zero to two is too many, 31% said six to ten is too many, 19% said ten and up is too many, and 38% said it doesn’t matter. Question eight from our survey was “What number of sexual partner categories do you fall into?” Out of the males, 29% said zero to two, 57% said three to five, and 14% said ten and up.
