2.6.6 Queen Bee effect
Groot (2010), made a research to examine the lower number of women in management positions. According to him showing queen, bee behaviour by the women manger can be due to some specific reasons. In his study he explored what circumstances does the queen bee affect shows and recommended the ways to eliminate its effect (GROOT, 2010). He took results from an online questionnaires that was answered by 244 managers both the male and the female related to national and international various organisations, working in both private and public sectors. As the end of the study no significant outcomes were received for female managers that were been counselled by male (GROOT, 2010).

Some employers mention in their job advertisement that this job is specifically for men, this practise must be stopped, and the culture of equal opportunities should be promoted. Career counselling and guidelines can be very productive to keep the women motivated throughout their academic career in STEM fields. This motivation brings very effective result on the performance of women who have their role models. Further studies shows that it is not necessary that the role model should be very famous personality, they can be chosen from school, college or from group level too, who has performed well in the science, technology, engineering, and maths (STEM) fields.
It was further observed that the women performed better in the same gender group rather than in mixed group when their performance was evaluated about their mathematical skills. Role models can help female students in their college or school and can retain them in STEM subjects. It has also been observed that the presence of women in faculty, teaching assistance, or in labs etc also motivates them to pursue their career in stem
