The word that sticks out the most in this quote is “remember.” White continues to come back to the idea of all the things that he remembers. He comes back to this place because he wants to continue something that he had such fond memories with his family and pass along to his son. Time and time again, people always want to be different from their parents, in fact, they want to be different from everyone else, but they are missing out on all of the possible traditions that could be continued. Obviously individuality is important, but traditions that are continued create a bond between people that is unexplainable; no matter what has happened, they have something that no one can take away.
